The film did not receive any success; it won him the Filmfare Award for ‘Best Male Debut’.In the year 2008, he appeared in the main role in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ a romantic drama directed by Siddharth Anand. The film, in which he played a role of a womanizer, turned out to be a commercial success, which was a great achievement for him. In the year 2009 he played the lead role in ‘Wake up Sid!’ a romantic comedy drama directed by Ayan Mukherjee. The film portrayed him as a spoiled rich kid who undergoes personality changes after he starts living with Ayesha, an aspiring writer and journalist.
