Ranbir Kapoor: The Rockstar of Millennium



Ranbir Kapoor, one of the most celebrated Indian actors and producer is known for his memorable movies, like ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Barfi’. His debut film was ‘Saawariya’ which has tragic romance. He received a Filmfare award for the Best Male Debut though it was not a hit movie! He was presented as a cameo in the 2014 film PK. This film became a huge hit all over the world and eventually he became the 3rd popular actors. Other than acting he also known because of his charitable activities and other events. He is also a vice captain of All Stars Football Club (celebrity football club that helped raise funds for charity).Not only that but also he also donates to environment association as well. Ranbir also helped to raise fund which mainly included food for the poor victims of the earthquake that occurred in the year of 2015. It killed nearly 9000 people.

Early life and backdrop

Ranbir Kapoor’s birthday is September 28th and the year he was born is 1982 in Mumbai, India. Rishi Kapoor was his father and Neetu singh was his mother. They both are popular actor and actresses in Bollywood. His grandfather was Prithviraj Kapoor who was one of the pioneers of Indian Cinema. He is also the grandson of Raj Kapoor, a famous Indian film director and actor. He also attended Scottish School Located which was located in Mahim in Mumbai. However he was not much interested into academics.

He also had a difficult childhood because of his parent’s marriage was not a happy one. He didn’t have a good relationship with his father. He even words for his father’s directorial debut as a assistant director ‘Aa ab Laut Chale’ ager her class ten. He completed other studies from HR School Of commerce and economics. After that he went to New York to attend the school of Visual Arts where he learnt his film making. After coming back to India he also worked as a assistant in the movie ‘Black’. This Indian film earned a huge success.  

Career and Awards

After the release of the movie ‘Black,’ Ranbir Kapoor acted in Bhansali’s romantic tragedy movie ‘Saawariya’ in 2007. The film did not receive any success; it won him the Filmfare Award for ‘Best Male Debut’.In the year 2008, he appeared in the main role in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ a romantic drama directed by Siddharth Anand. The film, in which he played a role of a womanizer, turned out to be a commercial success, which was a great achievement for him. In the year 2009 he played the lead role in ‘Wake up Sid!’ a romantic comedy drama directed by Ayan Mukherjee. The film portrayed him as a spoiled rich kid who undergoes personality changes after he starts living with Ayesha, an aspiring writer and journalist. Though the film depicted a romantic relationship between a younger man and an older woman, which is quite unusual in Bollywood, the film eventually became a hit.

In the same year, he played the lead role in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, which eventually became the fourth highest grossing film of the year. He also appeared in another movie in the same year ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ in which he portrays a sardar who is an aspiring salesman. After appearing in several movies such as ‘Raajneeti’ (2010) and ‘Rockstar’ (2011), he played the lead role in ‘Barfi!’ in 2012 which was one of the highest grossing films of the year. The story revolved around a mute and deaf Nepali boy from Darjeeling and his relationships with two women. The film became India’s official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. However it failed to earn a nomination. His role in the 2013 comedy drama ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ was also quite appreciated. Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, the film was a huge commercial success, becoming one of the highest grossing Indian films of the year. The film earned Kapoor a Filmfare Award nomination for ‘Best Actor’. He was latest seen in movies such as ‘Roy’ (2015), ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) and ‘Jagga Jasoos’ (2017).
